In much of the United States, spring still feels a far cry off in the distance. But for those of us lucky enough to live and love in the Sunshine State, spring has just about sprung! It’s that beautiful time of year when the trees are all green, the flowers are all in bloom, the heat is not (yet) unbearable, and the rain has not (yet) taken over each and every Florida afternoon.
Spring is the season of rebirth and growth, so it’s the perfect time to find, cultivate, and grow love. With that in mind, let’s look at some top date ideas here in South Florida to help you connect with your partner.
The Green Market
Each October through April, the Green Market descends upon multiple sites throughout Palm Beach County. The spring is the ultimate time to attend these Markets alongside your partner, whether you’re enjoying the rousing live music, tasting delicious samples from local vendors, or finding meaningful one-of-a-kind gifts for one another from the many artists and craftspeople who sell their wares at the weekly markets. These markets take place in several different cities throughout the county including West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, and Greenacres, so you never know what you’ll find at each of the different locations. Spring into the season by supporting local businesses and walking alongside your sweetie in the sunshine.
Beach Picnic
For beach lovers, there’s nothing better than a romantic oceanside picnic. Pack a basket of your and your love’s favorite snacks and drinks and head down to one of the area’s countless pristine beaches from Palm Beach to Singer Island to Red Reef Park. Those of us who have spent our lives here in Florida know that it’s critical to seize those few opportune months where the beach is tolerable enough that the sand is cool enough to walk on but the climate is still warm enough to enjoy. Spring is the perfect time to hit the beach and spend some meaningful time soaking up the sun with the one you love.
Mounts Botanical Garden
One of Palm Beach County’s many jewels is the Mounts Botanical Garden. Located just west of the West Palm Beach International Airport, this lush garden provides the perfect setting for a quiet stroll or a meaningful moment of reflection with your partner. The calm serene environment of the gardens is the perfect place to connect on a deeper level while still getting in touch with the natural environment and taking in all of the natural beauty our state has to offer.
Paint and Sip Night
The best thing about a paint and sip night is that you can really make it what you want it to be! If you’re looking to get out on the town and spend some time painting and meeting new people with your partner, you can attend one of the many different Paint and Sip Nights offered throughout the county at many different venues. My personal favorites are the Paint and Sip events regularly offered at The Square in West Palm Beach. However, if you’re looking for a quiet night in with your honey, you can always DIY this date night! Whether you’re grabbing a paint kit and a bottle of wine to bring home or you’re hitting downtown, there’s nothing better than getting creative with your partner.
Norton Museum of Art
Although the spring is overflowing with date opportunities in the great outdoors, I’d be remiss to not offer some options for those who are less interested in dates that take them out of Florida’s signature AC. I believe one of the most romantic places in our county is the Norton Museum of Art, although I may be biased considering this museum was the site of my engagement photoshoot. Despite my bias, the Norton as it is known to locals is the perfect place for couples who are looking to spend their date night exploring art and culture. Throughout the year, the museum hosts countless events including “Art After Dark” nighttime events and even painting classes. And once you’ve taken in all the art that the collection has to offer, there’s even a top-notch restaurant on site where you can end your night with a lovely meal.
Escape Room
Last but not least, one of my favorite date nights is going to one of the many local Escape Rooms in our beautiful county. Contrary to popular belief, escape rooms are often perfectly suitable for couples and they offer a fun and exciting way to practice your communication and collaboration with one another. If you and your partner are looking for a date night to get your heart racing and your wheels turning, these escape room games are certainly for you!
